Goodbye Summer Break...

I have sort of fell off the bandwagon when it comes to blogging! Maybe I can become a little better at the whole blogging thing. I can not believe summer break is over, and I am about to begin my second year of teaching. My summer has been so busy that it really did not feel like a break. I worked on the TPSD curriculum project and took 3 classes for Masters. However, I am ready to get back in the classroom. I'm pretty sure I could never be a housewife :) Right after school was out, we took a trip to Destin, Fl for a week and have spent just about every weekend since then at the lake. Here are a few pictures from our summer:

Southern Living Key Lime Pound Cake

After getting this month's issue of Southern Living, I knew that I wanted to try out one of these pounds cake recipes. I decide to go with the Key Lime pound cake. I was planning to make it when I have Bunco at my house. I decided I better try it out first and make sure it was not a flop. This cake does not dissapoint. It is a little time consuming but worth it. If you do not like Key Lime pie then you will not like this cake. It is a bit tangy. If you do not have an issue of the March Southern Living you can find the recipe here .
Only 2 sticks of butter and 4 cups of sugar :)

Spring is here..

Happy 1st day of spring! It feels more like summer to me outside! My spring break is officially over, and it has flown by. I never got around to the "spring cleaning" I had planned on doing. I think spring break should be extended to two weeks ;). Only nine more Mondays until summer break. I must admit, I have missed my 23 kiddos this week! They will be filled with interesting stories tomorrow morning I am sure. This is how we have spent our first day of spring :

We have attended the Orchard for several years now and we LOVE it! We couldn't imagine going to church anywhere else.

We had lunch at Peppers, and then we made the dreaded stop at Wal- Mart.  We spent the afternoon working in the yard. Kyle enjoys it but me not so much. I guess I didn't inherit that trait from my mom :). He tends to go behind me fixing everything I touch, so I guess I am not very good at it either! I do like the looks of a nice yard, so it is worth it. I will stick to my small potted plants that I can cut and bring in the house.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I have considered starting a family blog for a while now. It is more like an electronic scrapbook. Hopefully I will get the hang of all this and update more than I do my regular scrapbooks ( which have never been started) :)
